Rotor Launches Low-Dew-Point Desiccant-Wheel Dehumidifier

With the upgrading of processes and cleanliness classes in the lithium-battery, pharmaceutical, and electronics industries, more and more production processes require humidity-control accuracy reaching −50 °C dewpoint or even lower. Traditional cooling-based dehumidification can no longer stably reach such low dewpoints, and desiccant-wheel dehumidification has become the industry consensus.

Rotor has recently launched a low-dew-point desiccant-wheel dehumidifier series, using a composite silica-gel/molecular-sieve adsorption wheel, paired with a closed-cycle heated regeneration loop and PLC automatic control. The outlet dewpoint can reach −50 °C to −70 °C, achieving year-round continuous and stable operation. The system supports online monitoring of multiple variables including dewpoint, temperature, airflow volume, filter differential pressure, and regeneration temperature, and can be connected to upper-level monitoring systems for remote operation and maintenance. It is suitable for humidity-sensitive production processes such as lithium-battery drying rooms, pharmaceutical workshops, electronics cleanrooms, film storage rooms, and specialty chemicals.

The working principle of desiccant-wheel dehumidification is to use the porous adsorbent material on the surface of the adsorption wheel to adsorb water molecules in the process-air sector and release water molecules through heating in the regeneration-air sector. The wheel rotates at low speed to achieve continuous dehumidification and continuous regeneration. Traditional cooling-based dehumidification has high energy consumption and limited dehumidification capacity under low-dew-point conditions, and the coils are prone to frosting at low ambient temperatures, affecting operation. Desiccant-wheel dehumidification, on the other hand, maintains high dehumidification capacity and stable operation under low-dew-point conditions and is the mainstream technical route for low-dew-point dehumidification.

The technical highlights of this series include: the adsorption wheel uses a composite silica-gel/molecular-sieve structure, maintaining high dehumidification efficiency across different humidity ranges; the closed-cycle heated regeneration loop isolates the regeneration air within the unit for internal circulation, avoiding energy waste and on-site temperature/humidity disturbance caused by large-volume regeneration-air exhaust; the PLC automatic control monitors key parameters such as dewpoint, temperature, and airflow volume in real time, and automatically adjusts regeneration heating power and process airflow volume according to setpoints; the remote O&M interface can connect to upper-level monitoring systems or cloud platforms for real-time parameter display, alarm push, and remote diagnostics.

This series has been connected to multiple projects in the food, pharmaceutical, electronics, and lithium-battery industries, with some projects delivered according to customer process requirements. Rotor's technical team can cooperate with design institutes and end users on low-dew-point dehumidification system selection calculation, airflow configuration, regeneration heating sizing, and control scheme design.
