Rotor Releases Direct-Expansion (DX) Air-Conditioning Units

Temperature- and humidity-sensitive industries such as food processing, pharmaceutical workshops, and textile plants have strict requirements for ambient temperature, humidity, cleanliness, and stability. Rotor has recently launched a direct-expansion (DX) air-conditioning unit series, using high-efficiency scroll compressors and electronic expansion valves, combined with a modular design, allowing flexible combinations of air-cooled, water-cooled, and heat-recovery heat-source forms.

The DX unit features direct evaporation of refrigerant inside the evaporator coil, eliminating the secondary heat exchange of traditional chilled-water systems. The system is simple, with high temperature-control accuracy and low energy consumption, particularly suitable for small- and medium-airflow process-air-conditioning scenarios. Beyond traditional air-cooled DX and water-cooled DX, Rotor's DX air-conditioning units are also available in heat-recovery variants, which can recover waste heat from exhaust air for fresh-air preheating during cooling, significantly reducing system operating energy consumption.

The design of DX units needs to focus on several key aspects: reasonable design of the refrigerant circuit to avoid refrigerant pressure drop and oil-return difficulties caused by long-distance piping; coordinated design of electronic expansion valves and PLC control, so that the units operate stably under different loads and ambient temperatures; modular combined cabinet design for convenient transportation, on-site installation, and maintenance; flexible configuration of filtration, humidification, silencing, and other auxiliary function sections.

GB 14881-2025 "General Hygiene Regulation for Food Production" will be officially implemented on September 2, 2026, placing higher requirements on the temperature, humidity, cleanliness, and ventilation air-conditioning systems of food production premises. Rotor's DX air-conditioning units can meet the design requirements of process air conditioning for typical food production processes such as food processing, beverage filling, dairy processing, bakery workshops, and meat product processing.

Rotor's DX units have been applied successively in pharmaceutical workshops, bakery workshops, and filling workshops. The technical team can cooperate with design institutes and end users on process-air-conditioning system cooling and heating load calculation, airflow configuration, filter-class selection, and control scheme design.
