Q: How Does A Rotary Heat Exchanger Work? What Is Its Maximum Temperature Tolerance?

A: The rotary heat exchanger core has a honeycomb structure. Cold air and hot air enter the two sides of the rotor respectively. As the rotor rotates continuously, it is heated by the exhaust air stream, then transfers that heat to the cooler incoming fresh air when it rotates to the fresh-air side. Up to 75% of the thermal energy in the exhaust air can be recovered. Standard rotors are suitable for normal-temperature applications. For industrial high-temperature applications (exhaust temperatures above 120°C), the ECW-type high-temperature rotor is available, tolerating temperatures up to 300°C, with cores made of magnesium-aluminum alloy or stainless steel foil.
